§ — Denotes my last issue of this misbegotten series.

I’m giving Tony Daniel one arc to sell me or not.  The first part was okay, but the first issue of Cowl wasn’t terrible, either, and we know how that turned out.

I’m still undecided on Moon Knight.  It does some things rather well, but I’m not sure they’re doing enough to make me care about Spector and his new motivation.

Part of me wants to move Deadpool to the Culling List, too, and if it turns out Van Lente is writing Deadpool Team-Up permanently, that may just happen.

Pull List for 21 Oct 2009

21 Oct 2009 · Leave a Comment

  1. Beasts of Burden #2
  2. Dominic Fortune #3 (of 4)
  3. Cowboy Ninja Viking #1
  4. Sugarshock (one-shot)

Slow week again.  According to my retailer, however, next week looks to be a huge one, so I’ll take it.

The last two looked interesting.  CNV for the title, and Sugarshock because it’s Joss Whedon who can write well when it’s not X-Men.

Nothing really of note this week.  Not sure if the entire Vampirella series is going to be $1.99 or not, but it’s a nice break from the $3–5 price tags on everything else.

Pull List for 2 Sep 2009

2 Sep 2009 · Leave a Comment

  1. Batman #690
  2. Bonds #3 (of 3)
  3. Deadpool #15
  4. GrimJack: The Manx Cat #2 (of 6)
  5. Incognito #6
  6. Northlanders #20
  7. Sir Edward Grey, Witchfinder: In the Service of Angels #3 (of 5)
  8. Solomon Grundy #7 (of 7)
  9. Starr the Slayer #1 (of 4)

Nothing really surprising here, except maybe for Bonds #3.  Bonds #2 came out well over a year ago, and I thought I just missed the last issue, so I’d more or less forgotten about it.  I wonder if I can remember the plotline enough to pick up where it left off or if I’m going to have to dig out the previous two issues.

WTF is up with Deadpool?  Is this a weekly book now?  Between it and all of the upcoming spin-off series, I think he’s going to go the way of Wolverine and people are going to get tired of him.

Not sure about Starr, but I do like me some Corben art, so one issue is at least worth a try.

GRIMJACK!!!

Incognito wraps up its first story arc, and Northlanders starts a new one.  Likewise, the Solomon Grundy miniseries comes to an end.  It was fairly mediocre, and part of me wishes I would’ve just waited for the TPB.

Oof… These huge weeks are killing me.  Fortunately, there are a lot of miniseries and one-shots in that mix.

Okay, the starred items…

Deadpool was much better last month. Then again, I was only buying this half of the Thunderbolts crossover, so maybe that’s why it wasn’t really working for me.

New Mutants has been okay, but not great.

I really want to like Wonder Woman, but Simone’s run really hasn’t been doing much for me.  I’ll give this one a few more, but no promises.

I haven’t gotten around to reading the previous issue of X-Force, so this may be premature, but like its sister title, New Mutants, it’s been satisfactory, but I’m not sure it’s worth the cover price every month.
